Personal Training in Naples FL: What Our Members Really Ask Us
Watch the full conversation to hear our coaches answer these questions live, right in the gym.
You’ll get the full back and forth, including a few things that didn’t make it into this post.
If you’re looking for personal training in Naples FL, you probably have real questions about what actually works. At Project Evolve Naples FL, our members ask us these same questions every week. This week our coaches tackled three of them: does creatine make you gain weight, do you need balance exercises, and should you always eat protein after a workout. Here’s what our personal trainer Naples FL team told our members, and what it means for your own strength training Naples FL program.
Project Evolve has been open in Naples since 2016. We’re the only gym in Naples that specializes exclusively in strength training for adults 40 and over, and we train in a small group personal training format so every member gets real coaching, not just a room full of equipment.
Member Questions, Answered
Does Creatine Make You Gain Weight?
No, it doesn’t. The confusion comes from creatine pulling a small amount of water into the muscle, which some people mistake for fat gain. That’s not the same thing.
If your weight moves at all, it’s usually a pound or two, and it settles quickly. It’s also not weight for no reason. Most of what creatine does happens inside the muscle itself, where it supports strength and performance. A small amount also supports brain function. There are no calories in it, so it isn’t adding anything extra to your day.
Do You Need Balance Exercises?
Most of what we do at Project Evolve is built to help you function in real life, not to look impressive on social media. Standing on one foot on an unstable surface almost never comes up in daily life, so we don’t build our programming around it.
When members ask for better balance, what they usually mean is they’re worried about falling. The real fix for that is strength. Stronger muscles, stronger bones, and stronger joints make you less likely to fall in the first place, and better able to catch yourself and get back up if you do.
We do build in single leg deadlifts and different lunge variations, which challenge your stabilizer muscles. But that’s a side effect of good strength training, not a separate balance program.
Should You Always Have Protein Right After a Workout?
It’s a good habit, but it’s not a requirement. Protein is just food that digests fast, which works well for people who aren’t hungry right after training.
If you train in the evening and skip dinner because you’re not hungry, a shake can help you hit your numbers for the day. But the idea that eating late at night is somehow bad for you doesn’t hold up. Your body doesn’t clock-watch. What actually matters is your total protein and total calories for the day, not the exact hour you eat them.
Our Take
Almost every question we get boils down to the same answer, and that’s not an accident. Strength train two to three times a week, hit your protein number, hit your calorie number, and stay consistent. That’s the whole program.
People come in looking for a secret. There isn’t one. The plan works because you show up and do it, not because of some trick nobody else knows about.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does creatine cause weight gain?
No. Any weight change from creatine is small, usually a pound or two, and it comes from water moving into the muscle, not fat. Most of it supports muscle function directly.
Do I need bosu balls or balance exercises in my program?
Not really. Standing on an unstable surface rarely reflects anything you’ll actually do in daily life. Strength training builds the muscle, bone, and joint strength that actually helps prevent falls.
Should I drink a protein shake right after every workout?
You don’t have to. It’s a convenient way to hit your protein goal if you’re not hungry after training, but timing isn’t the important part. Your total protein for the day is what matters.
Does eating late at night affect my results?
No. What matters most is your total calories and protein across the whole day, not the specific hour you eat them.
How often should I be strength training?
Two to three sessions a week is the target for most of our members, done consistently over time.
What actually helps prevent falls as you get older?
Building strength in your muscles, bones, and joints. That’s what allows you to stay steady on your feet and recover quickly if you do stumble.
What Our Naples Members Say
One of our members came to us in her late 50s after a scare on a walk with friends. She’d stumbled stepping off a curb and it rattled her enough that she started avoiding uneven ground altogether. She wasn’t out of shape by most standards. She just didn’t trust her body anymore.
After training with us a few times a week, she noticed the change first on a trip to visit her grandkids. She kept up on a hike without thinking twice about the terrain, and got down on the floor to play with them without needing help getting back up. She still talks about that hike more than anything else.
